In early November,The Los Angeles Vision Zero Alliance submitted a coalition led letter to Chair Mike Bonin and members of the transportation committee on supporting their request for additional data for the Vision Zero Plan.

As 2017 comes to a close, we would like thank our many partners across Orange County in helping us to achieve advancements in active transportation. The Orange County Active Transportation Network was formed in early 2017, and through partner input we drafted the Active Transportation Vision document as an advocacy tool.
We have an opening in our Technical Assistance program for the Active Transportation Program (ATP).
In the Inland Empire region, the Safe Routes Partnership joined four local non-profit organizations to author a coalition letter raising concerns over warehouse developments near schools and homes. The coalition letter highlighted concerns over a environmental impact report regarding the development of the Fontana Southwest Logistics project expansion in Fontana, California.
Yesterday the California Senate and Assembly passed the long-gestating transportation funding package after a long debate. Senate Bill 1 will provide 10 years worth of funding for transportation improvements across the state, including $1 billion in new funding for the Active Transportation Program.

As part of SCAG’s ongoing Go Human campaign, the cities of Santa Ana, Westminster and Garden Grove, along with leadership from County of Orange District 1 Supervisor Andrew Do’s office, recently held Redefine Hazard Avenue. The event brought a temporary bike lane to what is a corridor where cyclists and pedestrians normally feel unwelcomed.
As part of ongoing engagement for OC Active, OCTA is leading a chalk art contest and providing students with opportunity to win a skateboard or bike rack for their school. Schools from across Orange County have submitted awesome pieces of work and now it is up to you to choose a winner.
