Active transportation advocates around the country have embraced the concept of Vision Zero, a set of policies that aim to eliminate traffic-related serious injuries and deaths through strategies that protect all people who walk, bike, take transit, and drive on our streets.
As more communities begin to adopt their own Vision Zero policies, advocates are also raising concerns that Vision Zero does not equitably address the safety needs of all communities, and that some policies could even have harmful consequences for low-income people and people of color.
We invite partners to join a Tweetchat to discuss opportunities for tackling racism, racial profiling, and police brutality while advancing the goals of Vision Zero. How can we leverage Vision Zero to build equity into key policies and practices from the start, at the local level and beyond?
